Prof. Dr. Helmut Pape
Helmut Pape, born 1950, completed his Ph.D. in 1981 at the University of Hamburg with a thesis on the semiotics of C. S.Peirce. From 1985 to 1991 he worked as Assistent Professor at the University of Freiburg i.Br. In 1987, together with Günter Wohlfart, he founded the ”Academie du Midi – Insitute for Philosophy” which organized a series of 15 international philosophical symposia in Southern France. From 1991 onwards he taught philosophy at the University of Hannover where he completed his “Habilitation” on the ontology of visual properties. In 2002 he became an extraordinary Professor at the University of Bamberg. From October 2004 to July 2005 he worked as a research fellow for practical philosophy at the Forschungsinstitut für Philosophie Hannover (Hannover Research Institute for Philosophy) on a research project concerned with the development of an interactive human ethics (”Ethik der Mitmenschlichkeit”). In 2003 he founded Vinosophia, selling wines named after philosophers and their ideas. In 2006 and 2007 he worked for two terms as a professor for theoretical philosophy at the university of Darmstadt, replacing Alfred Nordmann.
